Description

Ryanair is currently recruiting a Head of Communications, Spain to join Europe’s largest airline group!  

This is an excellent time to join Ryanair as we look to grow to over 800 aircraft and 300m guests per year withing the next 10 years. 

The role’s primary responsibility is to drive strong coverage for Ryanair in Spain, building and leveraging media relationships to support the airlines’ communications objectives and messaging. 

The successful candidate will be based in Spain (close to one of Ryanair’s operational airports) with extensive travelling within the market and will work closely with our Senior Leadership in Dublin HQ. This is a permanent position and key responsibilities will include supporting Ryanair in getting local connections and market intelligence, improving our brand and relationships with local key stakeholders including media (national and regional) tourist boards, and airports. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver and manage Ryanair’s integrated comms and marketing plan in Spain. 
  • Build and maintain active relationship with local stakeholders including media, tourist boards and airports 
  • Localize our corporate key messages and suggest local angles 
  • Drive narrative and key messaging in the market 
  • Prepare press releases, media responses and presentations 
  • Deliver and attend press conferences, speaking events and interviews 
  • Work closely with our Spanish PR agency and our HQ press office to address daily media queries 
  • Suggest strategic partnership and sponsorship opportunities 
  • Drive demand, sales and improve brand perception and positioning in markets 
  • Travel extensively across Spain and any other markets of responsibility  
  • Build presence and connections locally 

Requirements

 

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential. Candidates must be highly proficient in both written and verbal communication in both languages 
  • At least 5 years Public Relations and Marketing experience (in house or agency) 
  • Confident communicator and presenter 
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of the Spanish media markets and list of T1 media contacts  
  • Deep understanding of media needs and media relationships 
  • Ability to negotiate while working within a multi-national and multi-cultural environment 
  • Good leadership and team management skills 
  • Experience of working in an agile, fast-paced environment 
  • Proven track record in aviation and/or travel industry an advantage
