Description

Ryanair Engineering-Prestwick has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer.  The successful candidate will oversee and work on improvement projects related to all aspects of the business.

Working closely with the General and Base Maintenance Manager the Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects ensuring they are completed within agreed timeframes, supplying detailed status updates, and will be expected to deal with any minor project issues with little to no supervision.   

Duties will include, but not limited to:

• See projects from concept stage through to full implementation, ensuring alignment with Lean principles, business objectives and operational priorities.
• Preparing project status reports by collecting, analysing and summarising data, including KPI, workflow and performance metrics, before recommending corrective or improvement actions.
• Determine project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, sequencing project elements and identifying process bottlenecks or non–value-added activities.
• Arrange and chair project meetings, facilitating structured problem-solving sessions, action tracking and continuous improvement discussions.
• Assist in the development, documentation and standardisation of existing and new processes using Lean techniques such as standard work, process mapping and root cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by supporting waste reduction activities, improving process flow, enhancing resource utilisation and promoting a culture of operational excellence.
• Motivate and engage team members to complete tasks on schedule, encouraging Lean behaviours, ownership and accountability across project teams.
• Responsible for delivering all required business reports, monitoring business KPI performance and supporting performance reviews through data-led insights and Lean performance measures.

Requirements

  • • Engineering degree or very strong technical background with a proven record of problem solving, continuous improvement and results delivery.
    • Good organisational and analytical skills, with experience interpreting performance data and applying structured improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with engineers, managers and cross-functional teams at all levels.
    • Experience or working knowledge of Lean tools and techniques such as process mapping, 5 S, Kaizen, waste identification and KPI management.
    • Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Suite and Trello advantageous.
    • Ability to work with a high level of individual responsibility, managing priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
