Description

Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance Ltd (PAML) is one of six heavy aircraft maintenance providers for our client Ryanair, carrying out maintenance on Ryanair’s entire fleet of New Generation Boeing 737-800 series aircraft, at our Hangar facility located at Prestwick International Airport, Ayrshire, Scotland.

As part of our continuous growth plan, we are seeking to recruit Trainee Welder.

This role is perfect for college students or recent graduates with a PEO, NC, or HNC qualification in a relevant engineering or welding discipline who are looking to develop a career in aerospace fabrication and structural repair. You’ll receive hands-on experience working alongside skilled welders on a variety of aircraft components, gaining exposure to advanced welding techniques and precision engineering standards used across the aviation industry.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out TIG welding on aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium components.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship across all assigned tasks.
  • Complete all required maintenance documentation in line with company procedures.
  • Assist in the organisation and evaluation of repairs.
  • Support with ordering and tracking of materials and spare parts.
  • Follow all company regulations, procedures, and health & safety policies.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and support the skills development
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Some practical experience or strong college-level training in TIG welding, particularly with aluminium, Inconel, or titanium, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of general sheet-metal work or tinsmith practices would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and the ability to interpret technical information.
  • Experience in component inspection or compiling work packs is desirable but not essential.

Must have, or be willing to work towards:

  • Company Component Release Stamp (CRS) approval
  • CAA welder’s approval
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills.
  • Willingness to work shift patterns (including occasional nights or weekends).
  • A flexible and proactive approach to working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Full training will be provided.
  • Must have an unrestricted right to work in the UK.
