Description

Ryanair is currently recruiting for an Airport Economics Analyst to join Europe’s Favourite Airline Group. This is an excellent time to join Ryanair as we look to grow to over 800 aircraft and 300m guests per year by 2034. 

The candidate will work within our Commercial Department with economic regulation at Ryanair’s European airports, reporting directly to the Airport Economics Manager. By working to maintain low airport charges at Ryanair’s airports, your work will directly contribute to Ryanair’s commercial and capacity decisions as the airline grows to 300 million passengers. 

 

Role/Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Airport Economics team to maintain lower regulated airport charges across the Ryanair network.  
  • Contribute to all stages of the airport charge setting process – from reviewing an airport’s charge proposals and attending consultation meetings, to drafting Ryanair’s formal consultation responses and engaging with Regulators as needed.  
  • Analyse financial and economic data provided by airports, including forecasts for traffic development, operating costs, cost of capital and aeronautical revenues. 
  • Conduct airport cost benchmarking, cost efficiency analysis and financial modelling. 
  • Assist in regulatory and legal appeals against cases of excessive airport charges and monopoly abuse. 
  • Monitor and track regulatory developments across Europe. 
  • Identify and develop new low-cost route opportunities.  
  • Represent Ryanair within industry associations as needed, such as Airlines for Europe, to collaborate with stakeholders and influence European aviation.  
  • Engage with Regulators, Airports, Airlines and Government Departments as needed on issues of airport economic regulation across Europe. 

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in economics or a related field. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of competition economics and financial economics.  
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. An additional European language is a plus.  
  • Excellent writing ability and numeracy skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter, with ability to work well independently, as well as in a team. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with other departments and external stakeholders. 
  • Previous work experience in a regulated entity, in a regulator or in policy institutions is a plus. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
