At Ryanair, we offer you the best training in the airline industry. With over 20 highly experienced engineering trainers running practical and classroom-based training across our European network we upskill hundreds of junior and experienced engineers each year.

Our state of the art training facilities includes two decommissioned Boeing 737 New Generation series aircraft in Stansted and Bergamo allowing you to train in the most realistic environment possible. All your theoretical learning will be supported by our E Learning platform. You will gain experience in all areas of aircraft maintenance from initial basic hand skills tasks, to complex component removal and installation. You will also learn how to support the fleet line operation on a daily basis, where tasks can vary from replacing a passenger seat belt to a main engine change.

Type Training

Each year we provide CAA147 approved theory and practical Boeing 737-NG and Learjet 45 type training places for over 220 engineers.

In preparation for the delivery of our first Boeing 737 MAX in 2019, we will be running our first MAX type rating courses this year.

Junior Aircraft Engineer (JAE)

Looking to start your career as an engineer in the aviation industry? At Ryanair we can provide the training for you to gain your aircraft licence.

Our 2-year JAE programme is a mix of practical and theoretical training for those who have completed all their EASA basic licence modules. Students are assigned a main base and will travel to Stansted or Bergamo as required for training. On completion of your training, you will then be allocated a permanent base with further practical training experience in one of our base maintenance facilities.

Apprentice Programme – Aimed at those who have studied an aviation or mechanical discipline our Apprentice Programme is run each year in Dublin, Stansted & Prestwick. No practical aviation experience is required to be an apprentice with Ryanair

You will be required to pass an engineering theoretical and practical selection test to join our programme where we are looking for basic theory skills, English, maths, physics and practical hand skills.

Prestwick
Run in conjunction with Ayrshire College and Skill Development Scotland you will attend the college on a weekly basis. At the college you will study the module/license material for the exams to become a licenced engineer.

Stansted
Run in conjunction with Stansted college which offers a first-year pre-apprenticeship program followed by a two-year program that combines theory and practical experience through work placement in the Ryanair hangar 10 maintenance facility. Upon successful completion of this 2-year programme you receive your Category A licence with the option to progress to a full B1 or B2 licence in the future.

Dublin
Run in conjunction with SOLAS and DIT you will complete a 2 year or 4-year programme. After 2 years you can graduate with a Category A licence and if you complete the 4-year programme you will gain your B1 licence. At the college you will study the module/license material for the exams to become a licenced engineer and gain experience in the Ryanair line / hangar environment.

Germany

Run in conjunction with Trainico you will complete 6 months technical training completing your CAT A modules and up to 12 months on the job training to complete EASA Part 66 CAT A licence. Suitable candidates will be offered further Boeing MAX/NG type courses & progression opportunities to obtain a B1 licence.

Sheet Metal Training Programme

Our Sheet Metal Training Programme is designed to train you on repairing aircraft aluminium structures focusing in more detail on aircraft structures in the classroom workshop and in our heavy maintenance facilities, giving you the skills to perform structural repairs on our fleet aircraft.

In the work place

We also offer aviation practical training courses in EWIS Module G, Fuel Tank Safety training, Driver training along with a number of theoretical courses, Aviation Security, Dangerous Goods CAT 6 Training & Train the Trainer programmes.

Additional to all of the specific training courses, we carry out induction training when you first join us and also offer mandatory PART 145 training, some of which is delivered on our bespoke e learning platform to keep you current and up to speed wherever you are working with us throughout our network.
